The mounting process was a breeze, involving just two washers and screws for a secure, flush connection to the wall. The high-quality maple wood, with its smooth, dark finish, contributed to the overall aesthetic appeal of this knife holder. It even comes with a stick of “Blok-Butter,” a weekly beeswax application that helps keep the wood gleaming. We appreciate how the all-wood face lacks the steel rails of most knife holders, providing protection against blade damage. Its versatile design integrates into both traditional and contemporary kitchens (and the Blok Butter smells amazing, too).We did find that the Mag Blok’s powerful magnet calls for a careful approach; we found that if we just tried to stick a knife on the piece, it would grab the knife and secure it with an audible click. Magnet Strength

When picking out a magnetic knife holder, you’ll obviously want one with strong magnets so your knives stay put and won’t go sliding around unexpectedly. This not only avoids accidents but also prevents damage to your knives. A good, strong magnet can handle different knife sizes and weights, giving you reliable support. Ideally, a magnetic holder is strong enough to keep your knives snug and reduce the chance of blades clashing. And it’s not just about keeping your blades sharp—it’s about making your kitchen setup easy and tidy. So, go for a magnet that’s up to the task and enjoy a secure storage spot for your kitchen tools!

Can It Accommodate Your Knife Collection?

Size is also important, and you’ll want to grab a knife holder that fits just right in your kitchen, with enough room for all your knives. Whether you’re into a sleek, compact strip for a chill vibe or a larger one to show off your collection, choose a size that suits your kitchen style. The right size makes grabbing your knives when you need them a breeze and gives your kitchen a cool, culinary look. Plus, a well-sized magnetic holder keeps things from getting too cramped, letting you keep your knives neat, tidy and sharp. Find that perfect size for a combo of practicality and style.

Balancing Utility and Aesthetics

Consider the realm of design when shopping for a magnetic knife holder—it’s a critical factor in balancing utility and aesthetics. It’s best to choose a holder that complements the visual language of your kitchen, whether it’s a polished and contemporary style or a timeless wooden finish evoking rustic warmth. Additionally, consider the layout of the holder and how it affects knife accessibility. A thoughtfully designed magnetic holder not only keeps your blades in order, but it also adds a personal touch to your kitchen decor.

Our Magnetic Knife Holder Tests

In our quest for the ultimate magnetic knife holder, we tested 24 different models, all of which were tested on design, magnet strength, durability and ease of installation.

When it came to material and build quality, we applied rigorous scrutiny to construction materials, aiming to guarantee the durability and longevity of the magnetic knife holders. The installation process took center stage in our evaluations, with a keen focus on exploring different mounting options and assessing adaptability to various kitchen setups.

To provide a holistic perspective, we had a team of professional and home chefs test each product, extracting real-world experiences, feedback and valuable insights. This process unveiled common issues (and praises) related to the magnetic knife holders.

Finally, we assessed the price of each product in relation to its features and overall quality. Our focus was on identifying options that delivered commendable value for the cost.

Schmidt Brothers, 18-inch Magnetic Wall Bar($50 at Food52):This knife storage solution won us over for its aesthetic—a seamless bar of beautiful Acacia wood. And we were able to store up to 11 knives on it. It fared better with small and medium knives, though, larger knives felt a little wobbly. And installation was not as easy as hoped. We also tested theUniversal Magnetic Downtown Block, which was equally stunning but took up a good amount of counter space and is pricier at $125.

Messermeister Semi-Circle Magnetic Wood Knife Block($150 at Food52):Another beautiful knife block, the Messermeister is also unique in that its design is a semi-circle. We found this block comfortably held eight knives, not 10 as the company advertised. Also, larger knives required some finagling to keep them securely attached.

Ouddy Magnetic Knife Holder, 16-inch($14 at Ouddy):Priced at under $25, we found it to be a steal and highly recommend it for small spaces. However, we had concerns about the strength of the magnet, particularly for heavier knives.

Wüsthof 18-inch Magnetic Holder($65 at Amazon):This model provides ample space for storing a variety of knives, contributing to efficient kitchen organization, but we found the price to be relatively high compared to similar magnetic holders on the market.

wooDsom Magnetic Knife Holder($39 at wooDsom):This sturdy and aesthetically-pleasing knife holder let us easily store a 10-Piece knife set, plus six more frequently used knives. The installation process was straightforward and the holder stayed securely mounted throughout testing. The wooDsom was one of our top picks, but has since gone out of stock. If you can find it, grab it!

Are magnetic knife holders safe?

Yes! Magnetic knife holders offer practicality and efficiency in the kitchen. They serve as a space-saving solution, providing easy access to your knives. To use your knife holder safely, ensure a secure attachment to the magnetic strip to prevent any inadvertent slips when handling the knives, and exercise caution when placing or removing the knives to avoid potential accidents. It’s also important to consult the manufacturer’s instructions and properly mount the holder on the wall to prevent any unforeseen incidents. Regular maintenance, including cleaning the strip to remove metal particles, is advised to uphold the holder’s functionality and safety.

What is the best way to store my knives?

For an optimal knife storage solution, consider a sleek magnetic strip on your kitchen wall—reminiscent of a curated knife gallery that’s both accessible and secure. Alternatively, a reliableknife blockwith dedicated slots ensures blades are stored upright and separate. Afterhandwashing your knives, store them with the blades facing upward to preserve their sharpness, and incorporate routine cleaning and TLC to maintain their longevity. Also, steer clear of clutter and ensure a snug fit to avert any potential kitchen accidents.
