An active nationwide recall was announced on Gibson Farms Organic Light Halves and Pieces shelled walnuts, according to the Food and Drug Administration.This is due to anE. coli O157:H7contamination that is linked to 12 reported illnesses, including 7 hospitalizations.The walnuts affected were distributed and sold in the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The product was sold in bulk bins at local and regional grocery chains.
