I’m Canadian & I Travel Across the Border to Buy These 12 Items from Costco
What I Love About the Chili ’N Lime Almonds
From the moment I ripped open the bag (in my car in the Costco parking lot), I was hooked. These almonds strike the perfect balance of salty, mildly spicy and zesty, with a beautifully toothsome crunch. They’re not overpoweringly hot; they offer a gentle kick that complements their tangy lime finish. That first taste was so good that I immediately texted my sister a photo of the bag and a PSA to get to her nearest store and buy them.
At my house we eat a lot of spicy food, and even though my kids are still small, I’m working hard to develop their tolerance for heat. It’s a long-game approach—they don’t typically want to eat anything with too much kick just yet. I didn’t think they’d eat any of these almonds, but they’ve been coming back to try them again and again. They’ve since become a favorite of everyone in my family. Even my 3-year-old asks for “more please” as one of his snacks after day care.
For my snack needs, they satisfy the salt cravings exceptionally well. I like to think of them as a healthier, more fillingalternative to chips. They offer a similar salty and crunchy appeal but are a powerhouse of nutrients in comparison. A 1-ounce serving of almonds (about 23 nuts) provides 6 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber and a good dose of calcium, potassium, folate and other vitamins and nutrients. Plus, they might evenhelp you poop! They’re a satisfying snack that keeps me full between meals, making them ideal for busy days. They also pair perfectly with a cold, sparkling seltzer or a spicy margarita (one of my favorite cocktails).
I know I’m not alone in my enthusiasm for these nuts. A quick search online reveals a devoted fan base, including a livelyReddit threadsinging their praises. One person says they have a “good balance of lime and spice” without being overly limy or spicy, and someone else says they made a “great” snack for a long road trip. Another user called them “addictive,” adding, “I am selflessly sharing this information with you even though I want them all for myself,” a sentiment I wholeheartedly agree with. They’re remarkably moreish and delightfully satisfying. Trust me on this!
