There’s an active recall on smoked salmon slices sold in 15 states, according to the Food and Drug Administration.This is due to a possibleListeria monocytogenescontamination.
The Foppen Seafood brand is specifically recalling their 8.1-ounce packages of Smoked Norwegian Salmon Slices. The affected product has a printed lot number of 412 and UPC 8 40137 10000 2. They were sold in Kroger and Payless Supermarkets in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.
This recall was announced after routine testing foundListeria monocytogenesbacteria present in the specified lot. If you have the above product on hand, dispose of it or return it to your place of purchase for a refund or replacement.Listeria monocytogenesinfection (also known as listeriosis) can be incredibly dangerous for young children, immunocompromised individuals, those age 65 or older or for pregnant people.Common symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. If you are experiencing any of these signs after consuming the recalled product, contact your health care provider immediately.
