Ingredients

1tablespooncanola oil

4medium headsBelgian endive (about 1 pound), trimmed and cut in half lengthwise

1tablespoonbutter

½cupfresh rye breadcrumbs

¼teaspoonsalt

⅛teaspoonground pepper

1tablespoonchopped fresh dill

DirectionsHeat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add endive, cut-side down, and cook until very brown, about 3 minutes. Flip and add port. Reduce heat to maintain a simmer, partially cover and cook until the port is mostly evaporated, 5 to 7 minutes.Meanwhile, heat butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add breadcrumbs and cook, stirring occasionally, until crispy, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat.Season the endive with salt and pepper.
