There’s an active recall on whole pistachios in Canada, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.This is due to a potentialSalmonellacontamination.
If you have one of the matching recalled pistachio products in your kitchen, dispose of it or return it to your place of purchase for a refund. While there are no reported illnesses connected to this recall,Salmonellainfection (also known as salmonellosis) can cause symptoms like diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps, headaches, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite.Symptoms can be more severe for those age 65 or older, immunocompromised individuals or for young children. If you are experiencing any of these signs after eating the impacted nuts, talk to your health care provider as soon as possible.
