Ingredients
¼cupcornstarch
¼teaspoonground cinnamon
¼teaspoonground nutmeg
½cupgranulated sugar, plus 3 tablespoons, divided
¾teaspoonsalt, divided
2poundsfresh strawberries, hulled and halved
2poundsfresh peaches, peeled and sliced
1cupall-purpose flour
1cupwhole-wheat flour
1tablespoonbaking powder
1cupbuttermilk
¼cupunsalted butter, melted
Directions
Meanwhile, whisk all-purpose flour, whole-wheat flour, baking powder and the remaining 3 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a medium bowl. Add buttermilk and melted butter; stir until well combined.
Remove the fruit mixture from the oven. Drop 12 rounded spoonfuls (about 2 tablespoons each) of batter evenly over the top. Bake until the biscuits are golden brown and the fruit mixture is bubbly, about 40 minutes. Let cool for 20 minutes before serving.
