There’s an active recall on approximately 72,240 pounds of ready-to-eat meat products, according to the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.This is due to a potentialListeria monocytogenescontamination.
There’s a Nationwide E. Coli Outbreak Linked to Ground Beef—Over 160,000 Pounds of Meat Recalled
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported 11 illnesses connected to this recall, affecting four states: California, Illinois, New Jersey and New York.This illness count involves nine hospitalizations and one death. While this investigation is still ongoing, if you have any of the affected products in your refrigerator or freezer, dispose of them immediately or return to your place of purchase for a refund.
Listeriainfection(aka listeriosis) can be especially harmful for those age 65 or older, those who are immunocompromised, young children and pregnant individuals. Common symptoms of listeriosis include fever, headache, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal issues. If you are experiencing any of these signs after consuming one of the recalled products, talk to your health care provider.
