Betty Lou’s Inc. just announced avoluntary recallon 1.76-ounce packages of their Stabilyze Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars, according to the Food and Drug Administration. This is due to an undeclared sesame allergen being present in the product’s natural peanut flavoring.
The recalled product was shipped and sold at retail stores, distribution centers or directly to consumers through Betty Lou’s website. The product was sold in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Customers with a sesame allergy or sensitivity are urged to not consume the Stabilyze Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar. Instead, dispose of the product or return it to your place of purchase for a full refund.
Because sesame oil is present in this product, those allergic can experience a reaction as severe asanaphylaxis. A life-threatening allergic reaction, anaphylaxis can include symptoms like hives, nausea or vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and, in most severe cases, tightness of the throat or cardiac arrest. An anaphylactic reaction can only be treated with epinephrine, so if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms after consuming one of these bars, call 911 immediately.
