With January in full swing, “new year, new me” may be the motto you’re seeing everywhere—and you may be saying it yourself. But in a recent episode of her new podcastNot Gonna Lie,Kylie Kelcehas an important message on self-love.
Alongside podcaster and author Drew Afualo, who spreads body-positive messaging across social media platforms, Kelce opens up about the challenges she’s had to face on her journey to loving herself and her body.
Why 2025 Will Finally Be the Year I Break Up with My Scale
Kelce, who is 5 feet, 11 inches tall, shares that while she now has confidence surrounding her height, she once would let words like “big” and “huge” affect her, especially through high school where she was “ruthlessly bullied.”
“There was a period of time where I was like, ‘Don’t call me big.’ I would be like, ‘I’m not big, I’m tall,’” she shares. “There was this whole idea that I had to switch the narrative of. Not allowing those words to hold the weight that they expected them to hold with me.”
Kelce notes that people “take issue” with her size because women are expected to be “dainty, fragile and delicate,” so when someone notices her height, it can become a point of discussion.
“You’re gonna look at me and be like, ‘you’re huge,’” she says. “Yeah. I f*****g am. Yes, I’m huge. Yeah, I’m big.”
