This Is the Comforting Skillet Dish That Stanley Tucci’s Whole Family Loves
The recipe starts with two 8-ounce packages of cornbread mix. Bake it according to the package directions and crumble it when it has cooled. Harris suggests that this step can be done the day before, saving you some time the day of Thanksgiving. Next, brown one pound of spicy pork sausage in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Remove it with a slotted spoon and set it aside. In that same pan, add two chopped onions, two cored and chopped apples and four diced celery stalks, and sauté until the onions are translucent. In a large mixing bowl, add the cornbread crumbles, sausage, veggies and apples, 3/4 cup chicken broth, 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter, 1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley, two teaspoons dried sage, 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme and 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary. Give it a taste, and if you feel like it needs salt and pepper, add a pinch of each. Mix it all together, transfer it to a baking dish and bake at 375°F for 40 minutes in the oven. It has a nice balance of savory and sweet components and will make your kitchen smell amazing.
