As we self-quarantine at home to help control the spread of COVID-19, our normal routines are being upended. Whether you’re out of a job, working from home, or suddenly teaching your kids math, it’s safe to say that our day-to-day lives have shifted. But one tradition that can be easily adapted is cocktail hour (yep, even in the times of social distancing!). Ina Garten (AKAthe queen of quarantine meals) took to Instagram to share her favorite cocktail hour recipe.
Ina’s go-to cocktail is a Cosmopolitan. Though she opted to make a traditional Cosmo with cranberry juice, vodka, triple sec and lime juice, you could try a fun, new spin on the classic with any other ingredients you have on hand. And if you’re not a fan of Cosmos (or don’t drink booze), check out our other cocktail and wine recipeshere.
During this time of uncertainty, a delicious cocktail and Ina’s cheerful spirit are the perfect combo to make your day a little brighter. Live like Ina and increase the size of your glass or start cocktail hour a little earlier than normal. As Ina says, “During a crisis, you know, cocktail hour can be almost any hour,” and that’s advice we definitely take to heart.
Keeping up the tradition of happy hour is a great way to stay connected with friends, family and coworkers during this time. As Ina Garten says, “During these stressful times, it’s really important to keep traditions alive.”
