DirectionsMelt butter in a small (1-quart) heavy-bottomed saucepan. Add brown sugar; bring to a simmer, whisking constantly until the texture goes from the consistency of wet sand to smooth and slightly lighter in color.Whisk in cream; continue to cook, whisking occasionally, until the sauce thickens, 4 to 5 minutes more. Remove from heat; whisk in vanilla and salt.Meanwhile, in a separate saucepan, warm whiskey (or bourbon) and seltzer just until simmering.
